Why I’m blogging
December 23rd, 2007 | by David |This is a very good question and I think one that needs to be answered before someone decides to begin a blog. I’ve blogged before. I had a blog called “Why Run 2″ when I was running my 2nd marathon. It was entirely running related. I blogged from Ariba Live in 2005 so that my co-workers could know what was going on while I represented HP. I also had another blog about the Steelers at some point. The point is that all of these died a quiet death. The Ariba Live blog served its purpose. The Why Run 2 blog served its purpose. The Steelers blog was just a waste of time and cloud space.
So why “Entrepreneur in Training”? Because I think I’m close. Close to starting my own business. I’m starting to get active in the start-up community here in Houston. I think I’ll meet some interesting people and this blog will be a medium to express my learnings and interests. Because I have an opinion on things and need a place to express them. Honestly..really honestly…I don’t care if anyone else reads this. Its for me to put my thoughts out there. Some day maybe my son will read them or even his children. Oh shit I just committed to paying Go Daddy $4 a month for eternity.
Because for some strange reason people have an interest in my running. Maybe because back in the day I was huge and lost a bunch of weight. People see me as an example of how running can help you. It has helped me. The weight loss is one thing. The confidence, the goal setting, the challenge, its all useful in so many facets of life. I’m not a great runner. But I am a runner and that means something and I’ll write about it a little bit here.
Finally Entrepreneur in Training will hopefully be a timeline of steps I took to becoming a better man, a better father, a better runner and a better watcher of “Lost”…I do have pop culture in my sub-title!
